we welcome you to the most complete presentation of Alan Bean's art available. The gallery is a non-profit project and is fully authorised by the artist.
Please take your time and enjoy each of the wonderful paintings and the stories behind them. The paintings are an eyewitness report of a unique era in the history of mankind - the first visits to another world - created by the fourth human to walk on the Moon.

The Editors
Ulli Lotzmann
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Lotzmann was born in December 1956 in Dassel and lives with his wife Martina and their son Christian in Marburg, Germany. There he works at the Medical Faculty of the Philipps-University as a full-time professor and chair of the Department of Prosthodontics and Orofacial Pain.
He has had a fascination for astronomy and space exploration since his childhood in the good old Apollo days.
Almost 30 years ago he visited Alan Bean for the first time in his studio in Houston and was immediately hooked and impressed by the quality of Alan’s art. From then on both stayed in close contact and over the years Alan became a fatherly friend.
When Ulli approached Alan with the idea to make his complete ouvre available in an online gallery he immediately agreed and offered full support.
Fortunately, Eric and Ken were also ready to assist with their expertise and joined the team.
We are grateful that my son Christian is happy to maintain and update this website as our webmaster.
Ken Glover
Ken was born 1964 in Ottawa, Canada. Before retiring he has operated a metal service centre.
His fascination with Project Apollo began when he was old enough to appreciate the idea of people travelling to and walking upon the Moon. With increasing interest and knowledge he became more and more Eric Jones right hand in running the Journal. When Eric decided to step down Ken took over and became the Journals new editor. Ken have been married since 1994 to Angele.
Eric Jones
Dr. Eric M.Jones was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, in 1944 and grew up in Wantagh, Long Island. He received a B.S. in Astronomy from Caltech in 1966, a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Wisconsin in 1969, and, for the next thirty years, worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. After his retirement he moved with his wife Di to Australia. The picture above shows Eric with his wife Di and Labrador Tilly in 2004.
Eric is the creator and editor-in chief (emeritus) of the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal. The ALSJ, an online journal hosted by NASA, is considered as the main information source about the lunar surface activities of the six Apollo missions that landed on the Moon.
Ken and later Ulli met Eric as contributers to the Journal. The three finally became close friends, nicknamed „The Three Amigos“.

Christian Lotzmann
Christian Lotzmann was born in May 1999. Already early in his life he and Alan got introduced through his parents Ulli and Martina.
